Paul Vallee mentioned the use of a statistical analysis of survival. Specifically Kaplan-Meier survival analysis.
After Paul explained how he was using it, I thought of other areas where you could use it. It comes down to how or what you class as being survival and death.
- Database performance. At what point does the performance hang (or die) and what is the mean time of survival. Survival could be a reasonable response time for a known query.
- Stock survival. The ASX whilst having large blue chip stocks continues a lot of speculative mining and biotech startups. It would be interesting to run some survival analysis over them.
Anyway I have to go. Going to play computer games all afternoon. Should be good.
Have Fun
